The multifunctional tunnel for biathlon and the planned multi-purpose sports arena in the desert offer long distances. However, here, too, the refrigeration input is reasonable, because ice rinks and race tracks are within the Hamco structure, wich is easily to be insulated: This is also the advantage of the curling facilities.
Instead of a great ice rink, where the energy consumption for refrigeration is high, Hamco corrugated steel profiles offer compact design: Two curling lanes side by side fit into one profile. One tunnel with an area of 9 times 50 metres can be cooled at reasonable expense. The more so, Hamco corrugated steel structures are innately insulated: they are embedded in the soil and "backfilled" with it, in expert words: Compacted soil all around provides stability - and thus basic insulation.
