Well planned and pre-built is half of the screw work
The general construction company SK VNSS has been commissioned with carrying out the work being done on site. Much can be pre-planned and pre-processed; but on the construction site they have to put together what fits together. With a corrugated steel construction of this size, also the implementation is a challenge. Hundreds of thousands of bolts and nuts have to be processed.
The work began in the spring of 2007 after the first truckload had been driven the approx. 4500 beeline kilometers between Dinslaken and Khanty.
So that everything worked out, the Hamco constructors had built the important details like the connection points between the tunnel elements in advance in the plant. Later, 4500 kilometers further to the east, there should be no difficulties.

Parallel to this, the ground work began in Khanty-Mansiysk. The plane formed the basis for the laying of the double tubes. Even with the first partial sections the extent of the overall facility was visible. |

The view of the preparation work for the loop, which connects the destination and back stretches of the double tunnel. When everything is finished, the biathletes in this place will have finished half of the round. |
The construction of the corrugated steel segments delivered from Dinslaken was begun with heavier pieces: with the double tunnel sections on which the two tubes are connected through short cross sections. In the background the biathlon stadium in Khanty-Mansiysk. |
Thanks to the sophisticated assembly system of pre-processed parts, the double tunnel in Khanty is quickly growing. Many thousands of bolts and nuts must be processed, everything has to fit together perfectly. |
Where currently the workers are still running up and down the stretches, presumably as of the summer of 2008 the biathletes will run their rounds. By then the interior furnishing of the tubes must still be prepared. |
